March of Dimes Mom & Baby Health Centers® are there for families at every stage of the pregnancy journey, even when access to high-quality care is out of reach. Our mobile health centers offer on-the-ground, maternal health programs with services aimed at bringing support, education, and care to moms and moms-to-be.
There are nearly four million births in the U.S. each year. Access to consistent, high-quality maternity care is an essential component of maternal health and positive birth outcomes, yet over 500,000 pregnant people receive inadequate maternity care in the U.S. each year, corresponding to 15% of live births.
There are a multitude of factors contributing to lack of access to care. Two million women live in counties where there's a lack of maternity care resources, no hospitals or birth centers offering obstetric care, and no obstetric providers. Regardless of the reason, all families should have access to the care they need.
Our Mobile Health Centers in partnership with clinical providers:
- Enable health care access in partnership with clinical providers to women and children via pre-conception, pregnancy, postpartum, and newborn interventions, as well as primary, wellness, and preventative care in their neighborhoods.
- Are uniquely positioned through purpose-driven partnerships to serve people who are underinsured or uninsured in underserved communities.
